Just back from this morning’s farmers’ market – really enjoyed buying a lovely selection of vegetables and salad leaves from Moreton Morrell’s organic Green Team. The baby carrots and turnips were irresistible as were a bunch of different colour radishes but I was especially impressed with the fresh lettuce and salad leaves. Everyone knows that leafy veg and salad get sprayed a lot by regular growers so buying organic is especially important. I bought cos, mixed leaves, rocket and spinach – all beautifully fresh, pulled from the ground just yesterday (unlike supermarket stuff which is often a week old when you buy it).
The paper bag it came in gave me five reasons for choosing organic: for your well-being, for animals, for wildlife, for a GM free diet and for the environment. So look out for that Soil Association symbol and CHOOSE ORGANIC.
